MASSIVE OPEN ONLINE COURSES IN TEACHING ENGLISH AS FOREIGN LANGUAGE TO DEVELOP CORE COMPETENCIES FOR GLOBAL INFORMATION SOCIETY
Abstract
To live in Global Information Society we should constantly increase our knowledge. The wish to possess core competences is a main reason of lifelong education. Due to Open Society and development of ICT teaching methods are changing. Education 3.0 based on the idea of connectivism involves collaborative learning. The article describes the experience of integration Massive Open Online Course into the process of formal education within the framework of students' self-work. The authors analyze results of an experiment and come to the conclusion that participation in MOOC contributes to the formation of core competencies.
