CHALLENGES POSED BY CLIMATE CHANGE IN IMPLEMENTING ADAPTATION STRATEGIES TO ECONOMIC IMPACTS
Abstract
This article aims to assess the effectiveness of existing adaptation strategies. The primary issue that will be highlighted is the inadequacy of the adaptive measures identified to address the various economic challenges. The study's results highlight the need to revise and enhance existing adaptation strategies to incorporate effective measures that stabilise economic performance and mitigate the costs associated with adapting to and coping with climate change challenges in the country. The study will highlight the role and importance of proactive policy measures, as well as the need to plan investments in the development of climate-resilient infrastructure, which will contribute to addressing the challenges of ensuring a sustainable socio-economic environment for growth and adaptation to the challenges posed by climate change. The article will focus on a critical analysis and assessment of the current adaptation framework to identify how existing national strategies reflect regional and local realities, while also determining the degree of commitment of stakeholders to the development of climate change adaptation plans. This is all the more important given that adaptation to climate change should be seen as a necessary means of ensuring future economic stability at regional, national, and international levels. This study can also be viewed as an attempt to identify ways in which the country can simultaneously address the dual challenges of climate change and maintain economic stability. Based on the research conducted, the article systematises and summarises the main actions for adaptation to climate change, which are largely common to most European Union member states affected by climate change.
