Abstract

The gradual deepening of deposits development and long-term exploitation of open geotechnology elements, buildings and the industrial site facilities (control objects) of large mining enterprises result in paying considerable attention to the creation of integrated monitoring systems to control their stability (hereinafter referred to as the System). The article presents the basic principles of organizing the System using the example of Kovdorsky GOK JSC. The formation of the Zhelezny main open pit to a depth of 850 m with partial open pit wall cutback requires the organization and development of the monitoring System for the stability of mining objects (open pit wall and benches, buildings and facilities located directly in the open pit and within the industrial site). Each group of objects has its own characteristics, on the basis of which they are formed, operate, and, accordingly, have methodological support for safe and uninterrupted operation. Qualitatively, the System is represented by informational (databases, software products, etc.) and object-based (surface of open pit and dump walls, hydraulic facilities, etc.) components. The article demonstrates the importance of the System properties such of as integration, the ability to automatically update incoming information, the efficient organization of information flows, the presence of an alarm announcement service and others. The general scheme of the System organization when working with spatial data in a multi-user environment is represented by the server and user parts. The server part in its general form includes a spatial data bank, a thematic database, and a GIS server. The user part is conditionally divided into the workplaces of data source operators and the workplaces of data consumers. The authors substantiate the necessity of using a fully-functional professional GIS for an adequate solution of all the tasks. The System organization at a large mining enterprise is shown on the example of the Zhelezny open pit.
