Abstract

Nowadays, the use of eco-friendly additives in drilling fluids to improve the rheological properties is widespread. This work aims to study the evaluation of rheological properties of drilling fluid suspensions contained Algerian Na-Bentonite and potato starch PS as viscosifier with different concentrations (0.6%, 1.2% and 2%) depending on the aging time. After the trials of aging, the possibility to ameliorate rheological properties of drilling fluid suspensions using an eco-friendly environment additive which is grass powder GP has been studied. The obtained results indicated that the aging tests applied on different drilling fluid suspensions reduce the values of rheological properties and the introduction of GP as additive with different concentrations (3g, 6g,and 9g) in the suspensions proves its effectiveness to enhance the rheological properties.
