Abstract

The article assesses non-carcinogenic health risk of the population of the city of Rostov-on-Don based on observation at fixed stations of the Federal Service for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring of the Russian Federation environment, in particular, according to the Rostov Center for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring (CGMS-R, Rostov-on-Don) for 2015- 2017. Analysis of the received information shows that nitrogen dioxide, carbon monoxide, formaldehyde are currently making the greatest contribution to the risk of damage to health of the population of the city. The main source of urban atmospheric pollution is motor vehicles. For the implementation of non-carcinogenic risk assessment within the city limits three separate areas on the specifics of the population have been allocated and, as a consequence, there is pressure on his health: the first area (I), located in the central part of the city; the second (II) - in industrial; and third (III) in the residential area. According to the results of chronic toxicity risk assessment in the first and second regions (I and II) represent the greatest danger suspended substances. In a third region (III) the most hazardous substance is formaldehyde. The overall risk of immediate action in the regions I and II is defined as the maximum risk associated with the impact on the population of suspended solids, and in the area of III - with exposure to carbon monoxide. A summary of the results produced by non-carcinogenic risk assessment leads to the conclusion that in the central part of Rostov-on-Don the level of air pollution in 2015 - 2017 years reached hazardous values of the population.
