Abstract

In this study, the mineralogical properties and the amenability of Mastra (G\"um\"uşhane-Turkey) gold ore to gravity recovery using a Knelson Concentrator were examined. The mineralogical analysis of the ore has shown that gold occurs as particles of 1-300 mm in size. In the gravity tests performed on the ground ore (-74 •m) a concentrate containing 771.95 g/t Au was produced at 47.15 \% recovery and 1.58\% yield. Enrichment ratios of Au, Ag, Cu, Pb, Zn, Ni and As were found to be 29.7; 16.7; 2.9; 1.58; 3.15; 1.46 and 2.35, respectively. These findings suggested that, for Mastra ore, gravity concentration using a Knelson Concentrator could be used as a preconcentration process prior to cyanidation.
