ANALYSIS OF RIVERBED DEFORMATIONS IN OIL TRUNK LINE UNDERWATER PASSAGES
Abstract
The paper studies theoretical and experimental issues of improving scour protection facilities of oil trunk line underwater passages. External influences on the stability of oil trunk line underwater passages were analyzed. Based on the analysis results, the impact of hydraulic processes on riverbed deformations in the underwater passage of the Surgut-Polotsk oil trunk line was evaluated. Also automated calculations of hydraulic and riverbed effects of the bottom soil scour in the Mathcad application environment were performed. As a result of the analysis of the riverbed scour processes, using a developed IT model, we calculated dynamic characteristics that determine the operability of pipelines. Also we justified the need to improve the protection of pipelines when trench-laying in the symmetric and asymmetric flow. In Mathcad, we calculated velocity fields for laying pipelines in a trench with a trapezoidal cross-section, determined a drag coefficient depending on the Reynolds number based on spline interpolation, and established dependences of a lift coefficient on a relative distance between a trench bottom and a pipe bottom. We estimated a variable hydrodynamic force and an added-liquid mass for pipeline vibrations under limited conditions in the case of periodic vortex separation and formation of a Benard-von Karman vortex street. Based on the solution of the differential equation of pipeline vibrations, a resonant length and frequency characteristics leading to the destruction of the underwater passage were established. As a result of experimental studies of the dynamic flow effect on the pipeline section, the adequacy of the automated model of the flow effect on the underwater passage was verified. When justifying parameters of an experimental installation and a measuring complex, the conditions of hydraulic modeling were taken into account. After statistical processing of the experiment results, we proposed engineering solutions to prevent riverbed deformations in the oil trunk line underwater passage.
