Abstract

The study is devoted to evaluating the application of remote sensing data (satellite images, orthophotos, etc.) in spatial development planning. The amount of data available today provides extensive opportunities for territory analysis, but in practice their use is often limited. The work analyses how such data can improve land use monitoring, understanding of urbanization processes and decision-making at various planning levels. The main problems are related to the different quality of data, spatial and temporal resolution, as well as the complexity of their interpretation. A significant challenge is the integration of data into planning documents and the lack of specialist competence in working with remote sensing solutions. Therefore, the aim of the study is to assess the possibilities and importance of remote sensing data application in spatial development planning. To achieve the goal, the following tasks were set: to analyze the types of remote sensing data and their application; to evaluate their advantages and limitations; to determine the possibilities of integration in planning processes. The study used the literature analysis method, evaluation and classification of satellite images and orthophotos, as well as comparative analysis and case study methods. Initially, the study collected theoretical information, then data selection and analysis were performed for a specific municipal territory. The results were compared with existing planning documents to determine practical application. During the study, it was concluded that remote sensing data significantly improves the relevance and accuracy of spatial planning information, allowing for more effective identification of development trends in municipal territories. However, their full use requires both technical capacity and institutional support.
