Abstract

Currently, there are four global satellite navigation systems (GNSS), American GPS, Russian GLONASS, Chinese BeiDou (BDS), European Galileo. Furthermore, there are several systems operating on a regional scale. It is widely proven scientifically and empirically that the correct combining of global satellite navigation systems (GNSS) shortens the time of convergence of precise positioning solutions, improves the accuracy and precision of determined coordinates, and also increases the availability of carrying out measurements. Until now, Multi-GNSS positioning has focused mainly on the combining of GPS and GLONASS observations. Currently, thanks to the significant advancement of the newly constructed constellations of the Galileo and BeiDou systems it has become possible in certain areas of the whole globe relative positioning in real time using signals only from these systems. The paper presents the results of experimental measurements using the signals from the Galileo and BeiDou satellites. The research is an attempt to answer the question whether precise positioning is currently possible in real time on a centimeter level without using American GPS and Russian GLONASS signals. The results of experimental work prove unequivocally that currently we have such possibilities, for example in the region of Central and Eastern Europe. The research carried out in the city of Krakow (Poland) has shown that already, for most of the day performing RTK measurements with simultaneous use of signals from Galileo and BeiDou satellites, we can obtain accuracy better than 10 cm.
