Abstract

This paper presents a study of performance evaluation of some fluid cement-based mortars containing mineral admixtures used as structural bonding material for fixing reinforcing steel bars in hardened concrete. The paper includes the developing of performance anchoring mortar for post-installed rebars based on ordinary blended cements. A series of standardized tests were performed within the experimental setup with the objective of assessing the performance of the mortars in terms of fluidity, cohesiveness and early age strength. The paper also includes the bond strength performance of the post-installed rebars at early age, which was assessed by pull-out tests. Information about the used materials are included. The quartizite sand, fine and coarse, of a certain maximum size and distributed by a special grading curve was used. The limestone and fly ash are the mineral admixtures, which are part of the blended cements used in this study and also the silica fume as a supplementary cementitious material. The outcome of the study is positive showing that it is feasible to anchor resistance steel rebars in hardened concrete of low and medium strength.
