Abstract

In this paper we want to emphasize the current challenge in integration of BIM, GIS and CAD. In BIM can be identified and managed the existing relationship between architectural, structure layout and mechanical, electrical and hydraulic services. GIS is managing locations, identifying trends, patterns and 2D or 3D models. Integrating of GIS and BIM (originally developed for different purposes) will have an important impact on solving problems in the civil, building and infrastructure sectors. In our study were analyzed the main software solutions, conceptual issues, case studies and applications that practitioners face today. It is presented and documented the actual stage of development, highlighting the differences between GIS and BIM and the main solutions identified so far for integrating information. A dedicated ISO standard on GIS and BIM interoperability is in the development phase. Last but not least, the importance of information taken from cadastral system - the information system of the real estate and the public utilities - is outlined.
