Abstract

Development of studies on higher education in Poland and extension of opportunities for exchange of experience with other countries influenced the acceptance of the pro-quality orientation by Polish universities. Thus, analytical actions were undertaken to achieve success, namely, to provide a high-quality education service. The quality of education was defined as a level to which requirements concerning the education process and its effects including internal and external conditions were met. Internal factors are those that are inhered in a university and the external ones - in the surrounding. They may be both positive and negative, thus they will influence the improvement, but also a decrease in the quality of education. They are preconditioned by social and economic phenomena, politics, or expectations of specific groups of beneficiaries. Along with the development of studies devoted to the quality of education, distinct types of systems of its evaluation have developed. They differ with the scope, prestige, and applied measures. They may be of only informative nature, but they may also differently affect the functioning of a university. Recently, many changes in the scope of higher education in Poland have been observed, which include the needs of the labour market. It has a crucial impact on the quality of the education offer, and thus, the level of preparation of graduates to provide services for employers, and thus the employment level. The aim of the paper was to analyse the selected quantity and quality measures that enable evaluation of the quality of education at one of Departments of the University. The department carries out an Engineering and Master of Science general academic profile in the Bologna system in agricultural, forestry and veterinary sciences. The studies cover approximately 1000 students learning full-time and part-time at four faculties.
