Abstract

Nowadays, in the literature we come across the notion that selected physico-chemical parameters have an influence on diesel engine operation and are included in the European standard PN- 590. Fuels meeting the standard for diesel engine are complex substances, which do not consist of simple hydrocarbons, but very complex, extended aromatic hydrocarbons. This paper presents proposals for the use of simple chemical compounds such as alcohols as diesel engine fuels. It has been demonstrated that selected alcohols can be used as fuels after the addition of enhancers, and some as diesel fuel additives. Mathematical models derived from the experimental data obtained were derived. It was noted that the combustion process is influenced by the chemical bonds occurring between carbon atoms. As part of the research, basic tests and engine tests were carried out. Engine operating characteristics presented, including: torque, power and specific fuel consumption. It has been noticed that alcohols with parameters similar to diesel fuel mix best with diesel fuel, and some of them can be used as independent fuel.
