UTILIZATION GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION SYSTEMS FOR MODELLING OF GEOLOGICAL DEPOSIT BODIES
Abstract
Geographical information systems (GIS) are commonly understood as information systems serving for effective saving, actualiz ing, manipulating, analyzing, modelling and presenting geographically oriented da ta. Treatment of geological information through GIS comes together with several problems. Right and effective analysis of complex system of surface and undersurface objects requires whole specific data gamut, which are typical for geological sphere. It is possible to solve questions connected with qualitative and quantitative modelli ng characteristics of natural phenomena as well as classical tasks of geological research with classic GIS systems. Product ArcGIS from ESRI company belongs to efficient GIS syst ems used in geological sphere and mining. The most frequent and also the hardest task in analyzing and data treatment sphere – solved in this system’s entourage – is terrain modelling, morphology of geological solids and three-dimensional distribution modelling of useful component in deposit.
