HYDROGEOLOGICAL CIRCUMSTANCES OF THE QUATERNARY COVER IN THE CENTRAL PART OF THE MOST BASIN
Abstract
Hydrogeological features of the quaternary sediments lies in different assumption for the emergence of freatic accumulations of groundwater and the ability to power or, conversely, to some extent seal underlying aquifers. Effect of the opencast mining on activities of quaternary sediments is significant and consists primarily in a drainage effect. In places, where the overburden works crossed saturated parts of the quaternary cover, there is a sudden drainage of aquifers. This water vents are regularly cause unresponsive stability of the overburden and final slopes. The submitted paper follow up by the available archival materials (methods and course of drainage, its hydrogeological implications in space and time), comprehensive processing geology (depositing, lithological characteristics) and hydrogeological conditions (hydraulic parameters, water bearing strata, changes due to drainage, predict future developments, water chemistry). The results of geological and hydrogeological analysis help us to identify the areas that could pose risk for the extraction of mineral resources, particularly of the brown coal.
