MODELS OF PLANNING AND URBAN SPACE SHAPING ON THE EXAMPLE OF THE SCHARNHAUSER PARK ECODISTRICT, OSTFILDERN IN GERMANY
Abstract
One of the major assumptions of the so-called Ecodistrict is Scharnhauser Park, Ostfildern in Germany, it is an interesting example that mostly consists of a newly created urban fabric. Many scientific publications focus on technical aspects related to the protection of the environment and natural resources, which, in fact, in this type of projects are achieved by the applied recycling technologies and other technological solutions. Energy efficiency is not directly translated into the quality of living and the quality of life in a given space. It is worth to lean on the form of this not so new experience, which is the Scharnhauser Park built in the 90s. The twenty-year period of operation entitles to set up conclusions as to the correlation between the spatial layout of the whole structure as well as its individual form of quarters and objects in relation to life which results from it and takes place in these areas. The article analyses the spatial structure of the development of the whole housing estate and their functional and utility influence. The forms and types of greenery as well as forms and types of buildings have been characterized in detail. The focus was also set on their mutual references and relationships.
