MOBILE INTEGRATED TESTING SYSTEM FOR EQUIPMENT WITH PRESSURIZATION P TYPE OF PROTECTION EXPLOSION-PROOF CONSTRUCTION

Abstract

In this paper is presented a Mobile Integrated System for on the Site Testing (MISST) of equipment intended for use in potentially explosive atmospheres, with type of protection pressurization p, resulting from research activities out by the research and testing team involved. The fundamental aspects of the design, implementation and easy use of such an integrated system have been examined, implemented and tested. A mobile integrated test system for Ex p type of protection applied to equipment in Ex construction, must meet the specific field test requirements imposed by the specific technical standard. The definition and context of the p type of protection involves maintaining an overpressure inside the technical equipment relativ to the external environment, using a protective gas (air or an inert gas) thus preventing flammable gases from entering the equipment. The integrated test system shall validate the effectiveness of this mechanism by real-time monitoring of essential parameters such as pressure, flow rate and test gas concentration level after purging the system, demonstrating the proper functioning of the pressurized system. The resulting integrated mobile field testing system is built in a robust, and resistant transportation housing, with shock absorbers to protect all internal subassemblies (eg. hardware structure, pressure sensors, flow meters, etc.) during transport to the test site. The need to carry out field tests is imposed by the fact that most of the Ex p equipment, is large or very large.
