Abstract

The paper starts with the presentation of some general elements for characterizing, from morphological, geological, climatic, rainfalls and hydrographical point of view, a national road routing, highlighting the specific particularities which are concerning the study of the instability phenomena. Further on, are presented the types of instability phenomena present on the national road routing, including the general causes that produced them. The paper ends with the analysis of two case studies, considered as being representative for the materialization of some of the issues outlined in this paper. In addition to the characteristics and causes of the instability phenomena related to the analyzed case studies, are also presented the proposed and applied consolidation solutions. The presented and analyzed consolidation works in the two case studies were very efficient and they behaved well in exploitation conditions. Also, the analyzed and illustrated aspects show the importance of more accurate evaluation of the characteristics and causes of instability phenomena that are affecting land communication ways when selecting and applying consolidation technical solutions, efficient for traffic safety and for reduction of the maintenance costs.
