AN INVESTIGATION INTO LABORATORY ANALYSIS FOR THE PERFORMANCE OF ANCHOR FOOTING IN NON SWELLING SOIL
Abstract
In the present study behavior of different footing anchors in reinforced soil subjected to vertical pullout loads were investigated. The plate anchors were considered as footings with their axis vertical and the study was made to plate anchors in cohesive non swelling clays. To carry out these studies number of laboratory tests were conducted on anchors of different shapes (circular, square and rectangular) and sizes in reinforced and non reinforced soil using three different Geosynthetics. It was concluded that optimum position for the geosynthetics is d/B = 0.5, where B is the least dimension of the footing and d is the distance between footing and geosynthetics. It was also observed that with the use of geosynthetics at this position there was an increase of 25\% to 50\% in pull out force for different types of footings under different conditions.
