Abstract

On the last four years, we take surveys on the diseases of some plants from natural habitats which, over time, support improvement by plant breeding process One of the locations where we can found such natural resources is the Nera River valley, inside of the National Park, and those is the main reason we are sure that this plants are on their natural habitat. Regarding elderberries shrubs (Sambucus nigra) on the research area, they are well represented as populations along the river sides. It is well known the utility of Sambucus nigra both for pharmaceutical and food industry and also as garden and parks decorative purposes. For this reason it is very well to collect information about infectious pressure of any pathogens that affects the Sambucus nigra plants. From the very beginning we observe the affected leaves and take the initiative to determine the pathogen and its attack parameters. After microscope analyze we determine that the pathogen is fungus Ramularia sambucina and we proceed to collect data for statistic analyze of the attack parameters. The data presented on the paper represent the results after four years of collecting and analyzes. Fungus seems to affect just the leaves and no direct effect on the flowers or fruits. The main concern is that this fungus if become epidemic, can affect cultivated elderberries and drastic reduce the production of fruits proportional to the assimilation area of the affected leaves. Also the disease affect the plants life time and of course the plants aspect, special reference to the elderberries for decorative purposes.
