PROSPECTS OF DEVELOPMENT OF ARCTIC SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY IN THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION
Abstract
In the paper the priority directions of development of the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation and ensuring national security, and note that one of the most principal factor is the development of science and technology and international cooperation in the Arctic. For the development of Arctic science and technology, the Russian Federation conducts work on formation of competitive scientific and technological sector in the development and deployment of advanced technologies and materials adapted to the climatic conditions of the Arctic, as well as the introduction of technical means and instrument base adapted for carrying out polar scientific research, particularly in the area of environmental management, development of offshore mineral deposits and water biological resources as well as the prevention and elimination of oil spills in ice conditions. To implement of the strategic documents of the development of the Arctic territories and the organization of interaction of Federal and Regional Governance bodies and Local Authorities, other state bodies and organizations for decision of socio-economic problems of development of the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation and ensuring national security, the Russian State Commission on Arctic development was established. One of the tasks of the Russian State Commission on Arctic development is to develop and implement a tool to ensure continuous monitoring and interagency coordination of integrated scientific studies of the Arctic and the formation of scientific, technical and technological futures.
