TENDENCIES AND PARTICULARITIES IN THERMIC INVERSION EPISODES IN THE CIUC BASIN - EASTERN CARPATHIANS, ROMANIA
Abstract
The present paper analyze the thermic inversions, vertical thermic gradients and daily thermic differences determined at the Miercurea-Ciuc, Jigodin-Bai, Bucin and Toaca meteorology stations, based on hourly data for the 2006-2015 period. The analysis of the thermic inversions in the Ciuc Basin was made by measuring differences of the temperatures between the Miercurea-Ciuc (661 m altitude), Jigodin-Bai (710 m altitude), Bucin (1282 m altitude) and Toaca (1898 m altitude) meteorology stations, which are situated at differences of altitude of 49, 572 and 616 m. In the Ciuc Basin, the thermic inversions appear frequently every month and season of the year, especially at the base of the depression, because its closed Carpathian basin characteristics. Due to the local natural conditions and anthropic interventions, there is increased static stability in term of BruntпїЅVпїЅisпїЅlпїЅ frequency leading to inversion periods, a relationship also investigated. The temperature behavior is highlighted by a maximum and a minimum value; the maximum value occurs especially in the afternoon and in the early evening, and the minimum values occur especially in the early morning.
