Abstract

The researches have emphasized that on the improved sandy soils the maize yields (the average of fertilizer rates) is higher when the corn is cropped within a crop rotation than in monoculture (table 1, figure 1). The applying of nitrogen fertilizers on improved sandy soil, along with phosphorus ones is an endorsed measure for increasing maize yield (table 2, figure 2). The influence of crop rotation and fertilizer applying has recorded high yield outputs with all experimented crop rotations as compared with the monoculture.( table 3). The reduced yielding capacity of sandy soils is given by low natural fertility of this soil on one hand and by the cropping system, on the other hand. Fertilizers applying after soil nutrient analysis without accounting crop features and crop rotation is not a mean of increasing the soil fertility because in the same soil conditions, in order to achieve the highest yield, needs different quantities of fertilizers in function of the previous crop or the crop which occupied the land two years before. The substitution of positive effects of crop rotation by increased quantities of fertilizers with most crops is a simple hypothesis because the maximal potential yield is influenced by a complex of environment factors on which crop rotation has a high influence being more important in the conditions of soil and clime that are less favorable on sandy soil. In this context the maize cropping on this kind of soil requires a specific technology in which crop rotation has an important role, after crops that leave the soil more fertile and, respectively, the applying of fertilizers with high efficiency.
