FUEL CONSUMPTION MONITORING IN MINING OPERATION FOR THE NEEDS OF ECONOMIC ANALYSIS OF TRANSPORT MEANS
Abstract
Transport means play an important role in extraction and processing of raw materials. Their use is economically connected with several cost items that significantly affect whole process efficiency. Generally costs associated with mining road haulage can be divided into two major categories of the variable and fixed costs. From above mentioned dividing is necessary to pay particular attention to variable costs, which are influenced by the size of individual transport activities. Among the most important items include fuel costs. For this reason, operators are paying them increased attention. The aim of this paper is to describe the possibilities for fuel consumption monitoring in real metallurgical operation and analyse them for the needs of intra-plant logistics. Specifically, there will be compared two systems of monitoring and the main attention will be focused on the accuracy of the data and proposals for possible improvements. Presented proposals may significantly affect the efficiency of the entire intra-plant logistics process in the mining enterprise and they can deliver significant financial savings and increase the overall capacity utilization.
