ECOLOGICAL ASPECTS OF INDUSTRIAL ENTERPRISE MANAGEMENT
Abstract
Economic development in recent decades has made environmental protection not only a local but also global problem. This approach is currently the basis of operation in this aspect in European Union. The eco-friendly business attitude should not, however, result from the fulfillment of statutory obligations, but from the activities that go after the accepted standards. Creating an environment-friendly, modern company image becomes a current times challenge and build a positive climate for its development. One of the basic elements of pro-ecological orientation of the enterprise should be the improvement of the production process. Often small technical or organizational changes bring measurable ecological effects, which can also be economically beneficial for the company. However, some eco-innovative solutions requires high costs to implement what should be included in the fiscal policy of the state. In most large industrial enterprises are Integrated Management Systems combine the environmental management system, system safety management and occupational health of the general quality management systems (integration can affect not only the systems implemented in accordance with the requirements of ISO standards, but also to be carried out, eg. in such areas as logistics system, accreditation of laboratories, the financial system etc.). Taking care of the environment and sustainable development are issues that should be permanently inscribed in strategy and the mission of each organization because unfavorable environment image of the organization, will mean in the long term loss of markets. The article describes some problems related to environmental protection in the Polish steel industry. Metallurgy use in their production process installations whose functioning пїЅ due to the nature and scale of the impact on the environment пїЅ requires a policy of integrated pollution prevention and control. Metallurgy is also one of those industries that consume large amounts of energy. Although now in this type of facilities are often used the most modern methods of production, the share of energy in total costs is very high.
