Abstract

We are the generations that are most acutely confronted with the reduction of natural resources and the negative effects of the impact of human activities on the environment, and this forces us to change both, our thinking and the way we relate to the environment and to the economic and social activities. The complexity of the 21st century human society and economy is also the most important source of vulnerability. As a result of aggressive consumption of resources, we must abandon existing linear economic models and adopt new models for sustainable management. Recycling of textile waste can serve as a means of providing solutions to many economic, environmental and social issues. The diversity/ complexity of textile wastes from production or after-consumption process, especially when the multifunctional/ adaptive/ interactive textile systems are the direction of the sustainable development of the textile-clothing sector, requires permanent research for the development of mechanical or chemical technologies, processing framework and working tools to ensure the obtaining of products with high value of use.
