Abstract

The Hornad river is a tributary of Tisa. It flows through Slovakia and Hungary. The environmental data on the Hornad river that were collected within the RECENT, DECENT and SOSNA projects since 1995, were embedded into a number of databases and simple GIS systems. Recently, the data were integrated into the new EnviGIS system created as a project within the ArcView environment. The EnviGIS - apart from digital maps contains databases of water and environmental quality data plus data on selected waste deposits along the river for the 1996-1999 period. The EnviGIS enables a comparison of the data obtained within the project of the SOSNA NGO and within the monitoring activities of the Bodrog and Hornad watershed management Company (BHMC).
