REHABILITATION OF A LAND IMPROVEMENT SYSTEM IN THE SOUTHWESTERN ROMANIA CONDITIONS
Abstract
Land improvements refer to measures and works carried out on agricultural or non-agricultural land to increase its value, sustainability and productivity. These improvements are intended to optimize land use, increase efficiency and support economic development. The purpose of this research was to describe the redesign of an irrigation canal, to present the necessary measurements, and to record the results. In this study, we have presented the steps necessary for measuring an irrigation canal and for drawing up longitudinal and transverse profiles aimed at finding the existing elevation compared to the initially designed one in order to unclog the canal and calculate the necessary excavation volumes. The work involved measuring irrigation canals within the Giulvaz commune, Timis County, Romania, to draw up longitudinal and transverse profiles in order to determine the existing elevation of the canal compared to the initially designed one. In order to carry out the work, a topographic survey was carried out in the STEREOGRAPHIC 1970 projection system in order to draw up transverse and longitudinal profiles using the Leica Viva GS14 GNSS equipment. Data processing was carried out with the Leica Infinity software, after which the calculated points were reported in AutoCAD in order to join and draw up the plans, and the Real Time Kinematic method was used to determine the points, using the reference station in Timisoara.
