Abstract

In the framework of the work, the authors conducted an analysis of the possibilities of modifying the selected rank method to evaluate the groundwater vulnerability to cpollution in the area where a source of contamination is at least partly under the surface and the groundwater interact directly with it. Such an object is among others the CTL Maczki-BпїЅr sand mine, the workings of which are reclaimed with gangue (post-mining waste) from coal mines. The analyses of the groundwater vulnerability to pollution using a standard DRASTIC rank method performed so far indicated that this is not the right approach because of the false image of the impact of the depth parameter. Therefore, an individual approach has been proposed for such an object by introducing new parameters to the analysis. The choice of weights and ranks of each component of the analysis has been carried out in an empirical way, so that in the trial and error way, the distribution of the index convergent with the quality of the monitored groundwater in the open pit could be obtained. In this work, only the first step to the development of new methods for assessing the groundwater vulnerability, i.e. a "static" approach to the phenomenon, without taking into account the dynamics of groundwater resulting from the hydrodynamic regime forced by mine water drainage system has been proposed.
