Abstract

The use of a total station for carrying out high-precision work on the alignment of the stands of a continuous casting machine is an urgent task that directly affects the quality of steel. Modern devices such as laser trackers are used to carry out such work, but their use is limited due to the high cost of equipment, the need for knowledge and experience with such equipment. The use of classical techniques and equipment is subject to a huge influence of the human factor, thereby reducing the quality of work. Similar studies were carried out with a continuous casting machine, the primary source of setting up such equipment are stands, namely checking the parallelism of the base planes. Different equipment manufacturers, but the basic principles are the same. The authors of the study were faced with the task of creating a methodology for checking the parallelism of the base planes of the stands using a total station, which will reduce the response time and geometric control of equipment, as well as expand the range of use by specialists in the field.
