THE POSSIBILITY OF USING THE ENHANCED OIL RECOVERY METHOD ON THE SELECTED OIL RESERVOIR

Abstract

The primary methods of oil exploitation using only the reservoir energy. This energy allow recovery a small part of oil in place. It is estimated that only 25-35% of the oil in place can be exploited from the reservoir using the primary methods. As a result, there is a large amount of oil left in the reservoir, which canпїЅt be exploited by conventional methods. Only the implementation of supporting methods, so-called secondary and third methods (EOR methods-Enhanced Oil Recovery), which use oil displacement with energy and external media, can in effect allow the efficient depletion of discovered oil reservoirs. In each of these methods, various substances are injected into the reservoir - water, steam, polymers, surfactants, CO2. The most common methods used to increase the oil recovery rate are water injection (waterflooding) and injection of carbon dioxide (CO2-EOR). The article presents a literature review of the EOR methods application in the oil industry. Examples of EOR methods used in Poland and in the world are presented. The author presents results of waterflooding simulation and CO2 injection for the chosen Polish oil reservoir. Particular attention was paid to the possibility of using different variants of water and gas injection, both the amount of media injected and the method of injection. Based on the results of the simulation, the author analyzed the possibility of applying the EOR methods on the selected oil reservoir.
