Abstract

This article is devoted to the results of the study of the combustion process of hydrocarbon-containing gas using electromagnetic fields. Completeness of gas combustion can be increased by 15-20% through the effects of electromagnetic fields on gas, as well as significantly reduce harmful emissions into the atmosphere. Unlike common ways to intensify the process of gas combustion with increasing air content in the gas-air mixture, we study the method of intensifying the combustion process without increasing the air content in the gas-air mixture using electromagnetic effects on gas. The external electric field affects the intensification of the combustion process and the completeness of dissociation of water vapor contained in the fuel-air mixture, which should have a positive effect on the completeness of gas combustion and reduction of carbon monoxide emissions into the atmosphere. The experimental data, obtained on a laboratory bench for the study of the combustion process of hydrocarbon-containing gas using electromagnetic fields, is given. Based on the analysis of the results of the above studies, it can be concluded that in the process of burning gases that have been intensified by an electromagnetic field, the environmentally harmful toxic components in the exhaust gases are eliminated. The energy consumption for the activation of flame combustion by strong electric fields is small and does not exceed 1-3 percent of the thermal energy of the flame.
