EARTHQUAKE EFFECTS ON THE SEDIMENTATION TANK
Abstract
Global warming is a phenomenon that makes us increasingly aware of the importance of protecting nature. One of the biggest problems is water scarcity in the world and the gradual drying up of water resources. This is the main reason why we are trying to return greenery to our cities, saving water and appreciating rainwater much more. Drinking water and rainwater storage tanks, as well as sludge tanks for wastewater treatment and recycling to technical water are becoming increasingly important. For built-up areas, in terms of space usability, it is better to design tanks with a rectangular ground plan (so-called rectangular tanks). If we use a set of rectangular tanks, we can achieve the most efficient use of the space intended for them unlike while using cylindrical tanks. In this paper it will be analysed whether the designed rectangular tank can withstand the seismic load. The solved tank is designed for waste water treatment. For sludge tanks, the design of the structure, as well as the material from which it is constructed, must be monitored to prevent damage to the structure caused by the load. This will ensure the integrity of the tank and there is no risk of leakage. The selected reservoir is loaded by a natural earthquake. We analyse its deformation, stress state and load movement. The tank will be modelled in ANSYS. In the calculation, the modal analysis is performed first, thanks to which we can obtain the frequency values of the first eigenshapes. This will be followed by a step-by-step calculation to obtain tank deformation and ripple levels, in addition to magnitude of specific moments in tank walls.
