Abstract

This article discusses the possibilities of using a 3D printer with parallel kinematics that can produce good quality prototype components such as various covers, handles and functional assembly for simple electronic devices or robots. It will enable combining the printer with an engraving CNC machine, so that the effector head of the 3D printer will allow the head to be exchanged for printing with an engraver head, and it will allow fine engraving on printed circuit boards. The printer effector is equipped with a system that allows the insertion and locking of the head. The structure and control of the 3D printer is essentially the same as for any CNC machine. After replacing the head the electronics can be simply connected to it and for the process of engraving appropriate software can be used. In addition to the modification of the head it is also necessary to adjust the tooling table, namely to replace the heated pad of the printer for an engraving plate, which is equipped with clamps to fix the workpieces. Thus, it is possible to achieve more efficient production and savings, where one machine is capable of producing 3D parts, as well as printed circuits for electronics. In this time great emphasis has been placed on the easy production of prototypes. This technology has a future in the aerospace industry and engineering, where for inaccessible areas it is financially costly to bring more manufacturing machinery or individual components in. It is possible to produce large quantities of high-quality components and simple electronics using one machine.
