Abstract

Methods for gas extraction are currently ranked among clean coal technology. Coal gas is a normal part of coal deposits a nd its mining reduces methane emissions. Underground coal gasification is a non-traditional mining method that also allows use of coal deposits which are not possible to be mined by traditional methods. These technologies bring both positive and negative aspects aff ecting the environment. This contribution is covering the influence of gas extraction from coal deposits on the environment accompanied by particular examples of some of deposits around the world.
