REMARKS ON THE USEFULNESS OF THE COMPUTER PROGRAMME AIDING EXPLOITATION OF THE FISHING VESSEL
Abstract
A computer programme aiding the diagnostics of the devices in the marine power plant and operation management of this power plant on the fishing vessel of medium size have been characterized. The programme is installed on the Dutch fishing vessels (Fig. 1) of 40 m length and gross tonnage just above 400 RT, with 5-7 persons of crew (skipper, mechanic and fishers). Such vessels are usually dedicated for fishing of demersal fish. Particular modules of the programme used both for diagnostics of devices and organization of work in the engine room were described. Programme characteristics were illustrated with the chosen screenshots of the computer?s monitor presenting particular elements of programme modules. Critical remarks on the programme capabilities of the described diagnostic-organizational programme were presented. The described programme: machine assistant is successfully used in the trawler?s engine room. It can be adjusted to the engine rooms of big and large powers, where adding a greater number of such systems like boilers, turbines, heating installations, etc. does not pose a problem. It has been pointed out that the description and vocabulary used can be troublesome as the English language mixes with Dutch. The manufacturer did not pay much attention to the fact that the programme is used by the international crews where English is a generally adopted language.
