EU UNEMPLOYMENT IN THE FRAMEWORK OF SDGS
Abstract
The European Union (EU) is dedicated to advancing the SDGs, aligning its efforts with both global objectives and its own strategic priorities, such as employment targets at the EU level. To address unemployment, particularly among youth, the EU has implemented a variety of policies. These include initiatives focused on enhancing education and training systems, as well as measures designed to foster a work environment that supports higher activity rates and increased labor productivity. Additionally, specific programs aim to improve the transition of young people into the labor market, ensuring they have the skills and opportunities needed to succeed. The EU's approach reflects a comprehensive strategy to tackle unemployment by addressing both structural barriers and individual skill gaps. Instruments like the Youth Guarantee scheme, European Pillar of Social Rights are used to facilitate equal opportunities and access to labor market. By integrating SDG targets into its policies, the EU not only contributes to global sustainability but also strengthens its internal labor market, fostering economic growth and social inclusion. These efforts underscore the EU's commitment to creating a resilient and inclusive economy that benefits all citizens. In the paper, the authors analyzed the results of the EU efforts through indicators relating to unemployment in the late period, based on data registered at EU level.
