Abstract

The territory of Kosovo, in particular of Dukagjini through the valley of the Drini i BardhГ« River is under the influence of the modified Mediterranean climate. This influence climate has enabled the growth of Mediterranean and Sub Mediterranean plants which became part the species Ficus carica L. ( Fig). In the current research to Ficus carica L. ( Fig) in Kosovo was known only as cultivated plant. In this paper, we are presenting the species Ficus carica L. (Fig), which represent new naturalized-native plant species for wild flora of Kosovo. We identified the species Ficus carica L., in a small location, few km away from Prizren city, on the verge of Sharri Mountains. This is one of the hottest refugial areas in the territory of Kosovo in altitude 435 m and average annual temperature of 11.8 0C. As these fig habitats are far settlements, can be counted as a case relict. Of important plant species accompanying fig in these habitats are Mediterranean and Sub Mediterranean species as: Asyneuma limonifolium, Colutea arborerscens, Convolvulus althaeoides, Co nvolvulus cantabricus, Echium italicum, Euphorbia myrsinites, Marrubium pe regrinum, Medicago prostrata, 1igella damascena, Pistacia terebinthus, Teucri um chamaedrys, Tremastelma palestinum etc.. The important place in thes e habitats occupied the Kosovo steno endemic species Micromeria albanica. Due to small number of individuals of this species and because their habitat it is found only in this location, Ficus carica L. should be included in the Red List of Kosovo as it is a rare and specie in danger. Key words: Kosovo, Ficus carica, new, dangerous species, Red List.
