Abstract

Pile driving technology remains the most widespread method in Arkhangelsk where the presence of soft soils is an engineering-geological feature. High quality of the pile shaft in the soft soil is guaranteed by using precast piles. New construction in the urban conditions is mainly carried out next to the adjacent buildings. During construction of a multi-section building ground works and pile driving are sometimes performed separately for each section but not for the entire building at once. The monitoring of pile driving by diesel hammer was carried out at one of the sites in the city. One section of the building was almost completely built and the next section was used for pile driving. Before pile driving pilot holes were drilled to reduce the dynamic effects on the building under construction. Several piles were driven without drilling pilot holes to determine the effectiveness of this method. Vibration parameters were measured with vibration analyzer VIBRAN-3 and three independent sensors were connected to it. The first sensor is located on the ground, the second one on the grillage of the existing section and the third one on the grillage for the new section Synchronous continuous recording of vibrations through three independent channels allowed a detailed analysis of the data obtained during pile driving. The intensity of propagating ground vibrations induced by pile driving depends on the penetration of the driven pile. Based on the results, recommendations for piling are given.
