EVALUATION OF CAN LIGNITE BASIN FOR THE POWER PLANT
Abstract
At present, production activities in Can lignite basin, which is belonging to Turkish Coal Enterprise (TKE) are run for domestic purposes. Apart from domestic and industrial consumption, it is also possible to evaluate the Can Lignite Reserve at power plant for meeting energy demand. The aim of this study consists of production planning, mine design and make mine planning activities more efficient, more economic and minimize environmental problems. Involving in this project, Authors have investigated available drilling and mine production maps. They have also produced some necessary data at mine site. Since the deposit has a calorific value ranging quite wide intervals, it is considered to establish a model, which includes a mine planning directed towards intending both domestical use and energy. The scientific solutions based on field measurements have carried out in order to reserve calculation. In this study, it has been investigated the relationship among the calorific value, the humidity and the amount of ash in order to calculate the reserve, accurately. Furthermore, it was investigated the relationships among the coal analyze values and density for the same purpose. The multiple-regression analyses have been tested to obtain these relations. As a result of the multiple-regression analyses, an empirical relations was determined with high correlations among these parameters. As a result of comprehensive evaluations and calculations it is observed that the mine has totally 70,000,000 tones producible reserve : of these 17,000,000 tones with high calorific value will be sent to domestical use and the rest low calorific value of 2417 Kcal/kg on average will be utilized economically in the power plant with a capacity of 2x160 MW for 30 years.
