In accordance with European Union guidelines, Spain is carrying through an advanced policy that encourages waste reuse and recycling, it has also at social and economic agents disposition integrated management plans. From 2015 to 2022, it has been approved a plan which provides guidelines. However, that document, which is quite perfect, doesnпїЅt include an inventory of suitable mining holes for being use as landfill sites. Mining holes, plenty of them in the country, can achieve perfectly that purpose. This presentation shows the potential of extractive industry as generator of holes with that purpose and bring to light existing synergies between that activity and waste sustainable management.
