SUPERVISION OF THE TRAIN MOVEMENT IN KOSOVO THROUGH CTC (COMMUNICATION TRAIN CONTROL) SYSTEM
Abstract
CTC (Communication Train Control) system it is known as integrated intelligent control systems for rail systems including mainline railways, light rails and underground lines in cities. With the development of modern data communication, computer and control techniques, CTC represents the future direction of rail control systems. At present, CTC has been used in one Kosovo railway line. Train control system in the Kosovo railway network, in the main line is installed which enables direction and control of trainпїЅs movements from central desk in Fushe Kosove (CTC). Communication network uses telephone lines with optical fiber cable and radio-network. In future decades, rail systems will be in rapid development periods throughout the world. CTC is known as the brain of rail systems, and will ensure safe and efficient railway system. It is necessary for CTC to be researched and developed further. In Europe, there is the ETCS (European Train Control System). In Kosovo it is used CTC (Communication Train Control) system in one line and intention is to be used also in other railway lines, in order to decrease railway accidents and incidents and to increase safe rail operations. In this paper, efforts are made towards the establishment of a CTC system in Kosovo railways which directs the development and design of CTC systems. The configuration of CTC systems is first described. The key technical issues are addressed. The fundamental modular of CTC and its interface requirements are defined. The transit methods from the present train control systems based on track circuits and other traditional means to CTC systems are also put forward.
