Abstract

The research study analyzes the state of degradation of Kula Izvoranu - Geblescu - heritage building from Oltenia Region and proposes solutions for its rehabilitation and introduction into the cultural circuit. The influence of the known parameters - construction period, used materials, is analyzed. The building being in precollapse stage is mandatory to be rehabilitated. The methods used are non-invasive and are based on visual inspection, historical analysis of buildings. There were performing a lot of compression tests upon the masonry bricks in order to determine the real level of this parameter. Also were performing frost-defrost tests for determining the stage of degradation of the old masonry. The degradation mechanism is considered in proposing solutions for rehabilitation. The conclusions of this study are presented for preventing the rapid deterioration of similar massive heritage buildings and are mandatory for predict the life duration of the building. The contributions develop innovative safety assessment tools for massive masonry structures.
