Abstract

Taking into account the natural and anthropic touristic resources of this region, we will make a presentation of its rural touristic potential. Consequently, several categories have been identified: natural touristic potential; rural touristic potential with a cultural-historical character; cultural-religious touristic potential; ecotouristic and leisure tourism potential; ethnographic and folkloric potential. The mineral springs present in the area under analysis have been treasured since time out of mind, offering to this day possibilities of heath improvement and recreation, both for the young and especially for the elderly generations. One of the very important conclusions reached by means of this study is that touristic attractions represent one of the main conditions for attracting tourists, along with the hospitality of the inhabitants and of the enterprisers, although not all the categories of respondents in the questionnaire applied consider this factor to be the most important. Considering the objective and subjective reasons for which the investment in rural tourism is justified and promising profit and welfare, one can create a list of reasons why a tourist should want to spend a vacation in the rural area.
