Abstract

The authors of this paper investigate the way rural areas can be sustainably maintained (designing and building -green buildings-, managing natural resources, practicing sustainable agriculture, practicing sustainable economy, practicing sustainable transportation, producing renewable energy, protecting the environment, reducing waste, being responsible) through environmental measures (conserving water, controlling pollution, designing and building -green buildings-, educating in the spirit of environmental protection, educating in the spirit of environmental protection, making conservation efforts, making energy efficient, managing waste, practicing sustainable agriculture, producing renewable energy). The study of the articles published in the last decade show that there are a lot of other measures that can achieve this besides environmental measures - various opportunities, optimization of rural public spaces, rural revitalisation, smart rural mobility and tourism, smart village, various strategies, and sustainable rural tourism - some of which retain part of the classical environmental measures
