Abstract

The purpose of this study is to develop approaches for the monitoring the environmental and reputational risks of building industry’s companies; to confirm the hypothesis that it is possible to use audited financial and environmental reports as sources for monitoring. The basis of the author's idea is the conceptual approaches of the international standards on auditing and true view tasks, as tools to guarantee the reliability of the results of monitoring environmental indicators in conjunction with key audit issues in the audit reports on financial statements, conclusions on environmental reports in the field of sustainable development. The study was conducted on the public data of building companies registered in the form of joint-stock companies that are part of PJSC "PIK Group of Companies" and PJSC "LSR Group". The scientific novelty of the author's concept consists in assessing the business reputation of building companies on the basis of a comprehensive audit, including step-by-step analytical procedures for assessing environmental and reputational risks, which allows us to confirm the level of the company's impact on the environment and the reliability of information about the building company as a participant in public procurement. In comparison with similar studies, the author's concept takes into account the business activity of companies, including from the point of view of environmental costs, as well as its reputational risks, which may affect the continuity of the company's activities in the future. In addition, the monitoring uses public information from several sources, confirmed by the auditor, which provides a higher level of reliability of the company's indicators.
