SEASONAL DYNAMICS OF PHYSICAL-CHEMICAL AND MICROBIOLOGICAL PARAMETERS OF WATERS OF RIVERS OF THE BLACK SEA BASIN IN ADJARA REGION AND THEIR ECOLOGICAL EVALUATION
Abstract
Physical-chemical and microbiological parameters of waters of rivers are determined seasonally in the waters of small and big rivers of Adjara Black Sea coastline (Georgia). The object of research was the following rivers flowing to The Black Sea: Chorokhi and Acharistskali (length-438 and 95 km), from small rivers?Kubastskali, Bartskhana, Korolistskali, Chakvistskali and Kintrishi (length<75 km). The strong smell was found on the Kubastskali river (5 points) and the Bartskhana (4 points) river. Their color was yellow and the floating materials were visible from the surface. The Korolistskali and Kintrishi rivers were distinguished with their transparency. The Acharistskali river was turbid during all seasons. The temperature was minimal at all three seasons in the Kintrishi river (+4 +11,6В°C), it was maximal in the Kubastskali river (+9+15В°C), the Bartskhana river (+8,5+15,3В°C) and the Korolistskali river (+8,3+14В°C). pH is near to neutral in the Korolistskali and Kintrishi rivers (6,95-7,1). In parallel with decrease of pH and increase of temperature, the content of ? 3 HCO in waters is enhanced and vice versa. In Spring a high indicator of oxidation is observed in the Bartskhana and Kubastskali rivers. Concentration of 2 O in waters of rivers is lower to the permissible norm (4-6 mg/l). It is especially low at river Kubastskali and river Bartskhana in Spring (1,8 mg/l). Biochemical Oxygen Demand 5 BOD is above permissible norm (3,05-3,3 mg/l) in the Kubastskali and Bartskhana rivers in Autumn. The concentration of 2+ Ca and 2+ Mg ions increases in water due to a decrease in pH and vice versa. Maximal concentration of Si is observed in the Kintrishi and Korolistskali rivers, maximal concentration of Na is found in the Chorokhi and Kintrishi rivers, as for K it is maximal - in the rivers of Chorokhi, Kubastskali and Bartskhana. P concentration is minimal in the Kubastskali river-0,0237 mg/l. The waters of rivers are not polluted by heavy metals ? As,Cd,Cu,Fe,Pb,Zn . Quantity of Collibacilus in rivers ? Bartskhana, Acharistkali, Chorokhi and Kubastskali equals to 110000 per /1 liter of water, which indicates to their high pollution. This indicator is minimal in the Kintrishi river (270) and the Korolistskali river (300).Total number of saprophytic mesophilic microorganisms in 1ml of research water is maximal in the Kubastskali (150), Chorokhi (140), Acharistskali (120) and Bartskhana (110) rivers, and it is minimal in the Korolistskali river - 50.
