THE MODEL VALIDATIONS THROUGH THE USAGE OF THE HIGH RESOLUTION REMOTE SENSING IMAGERY ON THE MARINE PROCESSES
Abstract
High-resolution remote sensing, be it satellite or aerial, it has become one of the main instruments for environmental monitoring. The paper present several studies on the satellite remote sensing applicability in the domain of the numerical modeling of the marine processes at regional scales, as well in the coastal areas with difficult accessibility, adjacent to the Danube Delta or maritime ports of the Wester Black Sea Basin. The in-situ data, as generally knows as field of data, involves different collection methods, deployed based on them effectiveness in different situations, at normal or exceptional hydrological regime in the deltaic lagoon system, but in coastal or offshore areas the high remote sensing methods are more suitable for a continuous monitoring. The paper shows different types of analysis of in situ vs remote sensing data that are used for model validations in several cases, connected with debugging and model validation stages. The area of interest for this investigation lies in the northern part of the Romanian shelf respectively the marine and coastal water-bodies associated with the Danube Delta was approached, by using several remote sensing data/products, and several numerical models.
