TECHNOLOGY OF MONITORING A WALL PREFABRICATED IN POLYTECH SYSTEM
Abstract
The paper describes a technology of controlling a prefabricated wall made of new material called Polytech used to produce prefabricated units. Prefabricated units made from a modified Polytech mortar based on expanded polystyrene derived from recycling were used to build a single-family residential building. Prefabricated elements are provided as wall panels. In order to control the prefabricated wall under realistic conditions, an innovative control technology was suggested that involved installation of a fiber Bragg gratings deformation sensor. The suggested monitoring method enables constant measurements of deformations of the construction element during its exploitation. This is a big advantage of the measuring system, given the fact that so far, Polytech has not been used to manufacture prefabricated units. The most important element of this solution is the FBG sensor installed on the wall. The use of measuring method based on sensors with Bragg?s gratings enables constant analysis of operational safety of a given element both, in the construction phase and during the normal use of the building. The wall panel deformed slightly in the measured point. During implementation of the FBG deformation sensor, it is important to install it in the right location. Tests carried out by means of the fiber optic sensor allow to determine the real scope of deformation of the monitored wall in the Polytech system.
