Abstract

The opportunities for integration of synchrotron radiation (SR) techniques in the Earth and Environmental sciences research together with Remote Access Services (RAS) and integrated Grid-based data processing tools are described. The successful implementation of the SR methods with Grid technology will provide new opportunities to the global science community. The possibility to perform precise measurements at different synchrotron beamlines through grid-embedded remote access instrumentation protocols based on high-speed networks could sufficiently increase the instrument utilization and reduce the cost of experiments. Regarding the typical sophisticated nature of investigations in the Earth and Environmental Science fields, Grid technology implementations are concerned as a leading part for data processing, data storage and results dissemination.
